Leave Room for Grace
“But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you — see that you excel in this act of grace also.”
2 Corinthians 8:7 ESV
We have to learn how to show those we love and have intimate relationships and share intimate spaces with just as much if not more grace than we give strangers or people we only know in passing. We tend to hurt those close to us more because we assume they know us and we know them- when in fact, we all have more layers and still a lot more different experiences. We may experience the same traumas and yet our experiences and how we choose to handle those experiences are not the same. So I’ve learned and I am continually learning to offer more grace. And sometimes in offering that grace and even more of it- that grace is not always reciprocated. We have to be okay with that. I’m not perfect, but I’ve learned when I’m hurt, confused or frustrated, I’ll concede and let God be God and pray that He grants me a little more grace to offer to others. And I'll offer myself some grace too because I’m not always right- I don’t see the whole picture. And so I’m learning to leave room for grace.
